Denton Road

Our son and his family have recently moved into 121 Denton Road, one of three Victorian terraced houses on the corner of Thompson Road. We know that one of them was a shop until a few years ago, but does anyone know why these houses were built originally as most of the houses surrounding them are much more recent. Were they farm cottages? And was the row of terraced houses in nearby Lewes Close built around the same time?
