Literary and Debating Society

I recently came across my great-grandmother's obituary which describes her and my great-grandfather as being very involved in Newhaven public life in the years between WWI and WWII. Does anyone know if any records exist of the Newhaven Literary and Debating Society, which they apparently founded? I am visiting England for the next few weeks and thought I might come to Newhaven to see if I can uncover any records or other information relating to my great-grandparents. Grandmother's name was Blanche Oakeshott.
