Old Timber Pier

Does anybody have a picture of the old timber pier on the beach at Newhaven? I'm trying to work out where it was, because mum said she had no recollection of cliffs when she walked from Lewes to Newhaven in 1946/47, but she said she went to the beach and she use to get splinters on the timber pier. and remembers the cows grazing etc.
