An elephant on a farm

Can anyone remember a farming family by the name of Mills? It seems they had a elephant on their farm that came from South Africa, The animal died & there was some kind of lawsuit over it. This would be in the early to mid 60s. I am in contact with a member of the circus family that owned the elephant & he wonders if anyone remembers it.
