Top left photo far distance are the mighty sheerlegs, used to lift Brighton built steam locomotives onboard ships for export around the world, probably to parts of the Empire.
My Dad got George Sims Senior to paint a picture of the harbour with the sheerlegs in it. A copy can be seen at the museum at Paradise Park. I still have his painting.
