Can anyone confirm that this construction actually housed a searchlight, and if so what was the searchlight used for.

Hi. Yes it was a searchlight emplacement, for covering the harbour. From memory there were two of these with split floors. Am I correct? As I would have been about 5-8 years old when I last saw them, I even argued with my mum of their existence! I am so happy I have seen the photo!
Do you have more pictures? As I am very keen to locate the other one and pin point the locations
