Having just had a replacement hip I have a lot of time on my hands. I have been going through the site quite thoroughly. I found this Home Guard photo so got the magnifying glass out to look for my grandad but found my dad. My brother had a look and he is convinced its him as well, we had no idea he was in it, he would have been aged 20 in 1939. He is eleventh from the left in the second row from the back.
I spoke to my son at the weekend about the photo above and he told me that dad told him that when he and my daughter were staying with them he told them he was an air raid warden at the beginning of the war. Now I have to start looking for a photo of him as one.
