The Kathleen Mary

By John Hills

Here are two pictures of the Kathleen Mary, one showing her with the original grey paintwork and the other after her refit, which included amongst other things, the installing of radar system aboard and the new orange paintwork.

Nice to see pictures of this former Newhaven RNLI vessel.

I can remember carrying out repairs to portside, damaged bulwarks and toerails following an encounter with another vessel at sea.  These repairs were carried out in the old RNLI boathouse while still S.A.R. active, during my years at Coral Marine Workshops at Newhaven Marina, cica mid 1970s .
