PEACEHAVEN ABSEIL
Bastion Steps,
By Richard Beckett
21st September 2013, on a fine sunny day, members and friends of the Congregation of St Leonard's Church, Denton gathered at the Bastion Steps, Peacehaven where some would carry out a Sponsored Abseil down the adjacent cliff face to raise funds for the Church. These are photographs of some of the people who took part. The first picture shows Beth the eldest daughter of the Rector looking apprehensively over the fence, but she abseiled down with no trouble at all. The other pictures show his younger daughter Rebeka while abseiling down. At eight years old, Rebeka was the youngest of the forty one persons who actually did the journey. It was said that going down was easy, it was the climbing back up the Bastion Steps afterwards which was the hard part.
Beth Wilson, daughter of the Rector says, Shall I, Shan't I, it looks a long waaaaay down. Beth did abseil down!
Then it was his youngest daughter Rebekah who went next.
The first few tenuous steps
Then they were away. Easy Peasy
