I belonged to Newhaven Tennis Club in the 1950s. We had two lovely grass courts to play on, (they were where the small childrens playground is), near the football ground.
We had great times there, it always seemed to be hot weather, but I'm sure it couldn't have been! On some Saturdays we would all take food and drink down to the hut and have an American Tournament, which was really tiring but great fun.
Occasionally we would play away in matches, but usually it was just playing at the club. I wonder if anyone has photo's of this?
