Looks like the start of the building that today houses Fludes Carpets.
Also on the left-hand side of the picture are Catts Cottages, which at this time the four cottages would been knocked into one building, which was occupied by LEDS Bridge Works a light engineering company, this business would have had a Ministry of Defence contract at this time.
The test for this contract I believe was to drill a series of holes of various diameters at set distances, through the side of a needle like piece of steel which the Ministry had sent them.
The company completed this task, then drilled a hole length-ways through the needle just for good measure!
