Graham Godfrey would be the son of Brian Godfrey the painter I worked with at Bannisters Builders. I think Graham played cricket for Newhaven at some stage. I played for Battle from the 1980s till 2006,they were always needle matches against the old home town.

Hi Terry.  Good to hear from you, I do remember you just, your parents lived in Wellington Road.  Your Father's name was Albert and worked in the offices at Bannisters . Played at Battle many times no sixes. I remember a good bowler named Mcniven Young got me out a few times.

That's right Graham number 31, dad worked for Bannisters for about 30 years. Tony MacNiven-Young was our captain, when he joined the club he shook us by the neck and made us a half decent team winning the league in 88 and 89. I only got into the first team if there were injuries. I was a genuine swing bowler and always did well in there but the regular bowlers were 20 years younger than me, I was in my 40's by then.

Hi,

Hope some of you can help?

I'm part of Denton School PTA. This Sept the school celebrates its 50th birthday. We are planning on holding a birthday party on the school field. What we are looking for at the moment are old photos. If you or you know anyone that would let us borrow or copy any photos please get in touch with me via email.

Thank you

My children were there for the 25th anniversary! I should have a copy of the 25th anniversary celebrations, where they planted 25 trees. If I can find it, I'll add it to this thread and email it to you.

Just a bit of sad news for Graham Godfrey , Tony Macniven-Young died of a heart attack last week. I loved playing cricket under Tony's captaincy he could read a game and was a good man manager. One game in particular I remember was at Glynde , our usual bowlers were on holiday and I was brought into the 1st team. The two panel umpires were helping with the umpires course I had been on the previous week so I greeted them and shook there hands. Tony noticed this and got me to open the bowling, I took 3 for not very many including two dubious lbw's, Tony said I wondered if the umpires would favour you. Glynde were not amused.
