Re: Brighton Scaffolding

By Colin Brandon on 20/02/2016 at 02:03

I am not sure if the name actually was Boroski or the name came about from the ski company.

I can remember a story that my late father told me, that the scaffolding Company came about by the father obtaining a contract from the War Dept ? or whoever, to dismantle tubular constructions that were erected on the banks of the river, above the swinging berth at various places.

These were put up to prevent enemy craft from coming ashore during the war time. I can actually remember seeing these structures in the late 50's.

Anyway, this enterprising man salvaged what tubes and fittings he was able to and from this, came the Scaffold Company.

I'm sure other Newhaveners would have known this.
