My dad Whippet Phipps was born in Hampden gardens in 1936 he was the 2nd youngest of 11 children. His brother Jim lived in the house til the late 90s and his son til abt 2005. There were quaries at South Heighton, Beddingham with the cement works and also at nearby Glynde and Southerham. My dads brother was burried at Tarring Neville. When growing up in Newhaven I knew a ex German prisoner of war who had worked at the cement works
