Fog Horn

Like many others, I woke to the sound of the fog horn on winter mornings. But where was it? I know the sound came from the lighthouse, but I don't recall having seen the horn itself. There must have been an opening for the sound to get out but I've never seen it. If any one has any photos of the horn itself I'd be interested. Also, where was the mechanism to produce the sound? Was there a room below the lighthouse that contained it? Again any pictures would be great. And when was it finally turned off?
