We do indeed congratulate him on his 100th. Without him there would be no Historical Society or Museum.

Congratulations.

I wonder if you are the same person who lived in Saxon Road many years ago next to Elsie & Dick Saunders (my aunt & uncle). They lived at no. 21

Happy belated 100th Birthday. Thank you for all your hard work and for making Newhaven's memories stay alive. My nan was Ivy Sheppard. I knew you were friends and she would love "our newhaven" if she was still here with us. So thank you Peter. xxx

Editors Note:  Peter Bailey is not connected with OurNewhaven, his connection is with the museum, but we wish to endorse Natasha's comments on the hard work Peter has done over the years to keep memories of old Newhaven alive.

Having lived at 15 Saxon Road for my first 37 years I can advise that it wasn't Peter who lived at 19. I remember them as Dora and George Bailey and as far as I know no relation to Peter. However, Peter's younger brother Tom did live at 11 for a while in the 80's. I do vaguely remember your aunt and uncle at 21.

My Mother Hazel (who lived at No 15 with my Dad (Wilf) from 1948 until her passing in 2014 did know Peter and gave some of her old postcards/photos of Newhaven to Peter for his collection.

It is indeed great news that Peter has reached 100 and I congratulate him belatedly. I enjoyed his weekly column in Sussex Express.

Please note Peter's 100th birthday was actually on Tuesday 1st November 2016 and he celebrated with a meal with his family at "the Ark".
