Three walking tours of the town

I few days ago I was pleased to represent Our Newhaven at the launch of three Heritage Routes around Newhaven. The routes were researched and co-produced by a group of local residents co-ordinated by Sussex Community Development Association.

The routes explore the historical interests of those who participated and like them to form three walking trails around the town. Each route has a leaflet with a map giving directions and marking the points of interest.

It was impressive to see so many local residents, as well as some of the people who helped get the project off the ground, such as Heritage Routes Coordinator Christine Joslin and local historian Dr Jenny Flood. I had the chance to talk to some of them, including veteran Lifeboatman Derek Payne, and we all agreed that however much you may know about the town, there is always something new to be learnt!
