This scene at the corner of South Road and Dacre Road with Charles Collington (my grandfather) standing in the doorway he was landlord of The Volunteer Inn at the time,  Charles had previously owned a fish shop at 19 Chapel Street which he ran with his wife Mary.

Looking at the billboard on the right of the picture one of the films showing at the local "Kinema" was "Daredevil Jack" starring the boxing legend Jack Dempsey which was released in the February of 1920, so we can date the picture possibly to a year or two later.
