Has anyone any idea what is the function of this struture off West Beach car park pictured today?

One of many jack-up barges that have been placed there over the years, the first was back in the 1970s, I think.

They are maids of all work, but when they are unemployed they need somewhere to park. A sheltered sandy beach in the English Channel is a prime spot!

It's called 'Wavewalker 1' and is a mobile construction and maintenance platform. Have a look at the videos on their website, it looks amazing when it 'walks' out to sea. I think it's just moored here at the moment.

Thank you for your comments. I knew the carpark attendant was joking when he said it was an immigration centre for Covid-19!!!
