NEWHAVEN BEACH

Early 1950's

By Helen Wagstaff (nee Russell)

This was taken by my Dad in the early 1950's.  I'm not sure but I think the ferry entering the harbour is the Falaise.

People seemed to wear a lot more clothing on the beach in those days!

The ship is one of the sisters, Londres or Arromanches. Hard to say, but from the size of the letters of the name and the lack of a Tricoleur at the stern, I'd say Londres.

This picture is beautiful, it really gives you a taste of what Newhaven was like.
