NEWHAVEN CARNIVAL

circa 1950's

By RAY SEXTON

I am not sure when these photos were taken, but they could be early 1950`s. The "Red Indian" in both is Edward Copperwheat of 47 Chapel Street. Unfortunately I cannot put names to any other members of the group. Edward was known to us as Uncle Ted, though he was not our real Uncle. We came to know him because my Gran was his housekeeper for many years. The outfit he is wearing was later passed on to my real Uncle, my Dad's brother Bert Sexton. He can be seen in another photo which was taken in the Railway Goods Yard and published on this site.
