I do not know the date, but Centre middle row is my dad Bill Terrill holding the cup. To his right is Harry Boxall (later to be his brother-in-law) and to the right of Harry Boxall is Bill Gerrard.The two Bills were boxers and had some great scraps.

I think the above photo was taken in H.M.S Ganges. By the way I seem to remember, Ganges wasn't a ship. May be something to do with competition/training? Would that be in Portsmouth?

HMS Ganges was the entry point and training base for many RM recruits. Lots of information here:

I've seen some pictures in the RNVR Bridge Street and they look about the same era, they are dated 1944. Certainly some of the people are the same.
