Do you all mean just down from Woody's corner shop, just along the road from Lamberts shop or the little shop? I can remember walking to these shops I am sure on my own across the Lewes Road to buy sweets before decimalisation. What was up with my parents, I must have been around 5/6 years old?.

I think the corner shop was the Silver Horseshoe at some stage in the 50's. I remember it as a corner shop, run by a kindly grey-haired man, who called all the lads "Ma Duke" and the girls "Ma Dear!" Ron Herriott may be able to help on this one.
