SS WORTHING 1928 - 1954

Leaving The Harbour / The Crew

The SS Worthing was built for the Southern Railway and was launched in May 1928, this steam ferry served Newhaven upto 1939, but in the september of 1939 she sailed for the navy and was a troop carrier during the war.  She returned to Newhaven in the march of 1945 and continued as a ferry to 1954.
