FORT FROM THE BREAKWATER

Pre-landslide

By Ed Tyhurst

When did part of the structure of the front of the fort cause a landslide?  Looking at the cars, could this be dated 1950's?

Given the squareness of the vehicles, I would say 1930's or 40's

The Gun emplacements at the top of the cliff are WW2 relics and therefore the picture is definitely post war. If my memory serves me correctly, it was in the early 1960's when the concrete wall gave way and I seem to recall the resident publican in the Hope Inn recounting to a local newspaper how they were woken early in the morning by the noise. But definitely pre-2008 as there are people on the sandy beach
