NEWHAVEN CHORAL SOCIETY

1950's

By Susanne Kumar

Newhaven Choral Society. 1950's

This choir was held in high regard and performed such works as "The Messiah" and "Elijah" with some famous soloists of the day including Norma Proctor, Isabel Baillie and Owen Brannigan. The performances were held in Newhaven Parish Church in South Road which was later demolished to make way for South Way.

I have fond memories of my mother Doreen Randall, who was a member of this choir and also the Townswomens Guild Choir, both of which were directed by Miss Earney.
