MARINE WORKSHOPS
Early 1900s
By Alec Paddy
These photographs of the Marine Workshops are from a large collection of glass negatives that I acquired last year. Most relate to the harbour and I think they were taken around the turn of the last century. I certainly had not seen any of the images before.
They are full of interesting details and perhaps someone will recognise a relative in one of them.
Apart from peeping through the doors/windows in the late 70s, when the Sea Cadet boats were moored nearby, regretably I never got to see inside. My father, John, tells me he used to work in there over the winters in the 50s & 60s, as well as working on the ferries.
