A picture of the Newhaven Marina taken in the 1960's showing the dredger " Fourmost " working in the harbour and the old Watchouse and lifeboat station on the left centre of the picture.

This photo is earlier than that, John. The Londres was sold in 1965, but she is seen at the corner of Railway and East Quays. That's where the car ferry ramp now exists. That was built in 1963/64, so this photo predates that. Cresta Marina is yet to be started, as there are no pontoons in Sleepers Hole, so probably very early 1960's.
Regards Andy Gilbert
PS: The dredger isn't the one that you're thinking of, the Foremost Prince, but the smaller Testside.
Thanks Andy. It has been differcult to date some of these early pictures taken from my late mothers slides, as the corner of the slide containing the date stamp have been cut-off to enable their use in a projector. But having looked into it further, and against other pictures, it seems most likely that this picture was taken in the summer of 1962, and it is indeed the " Londres " berthed in the background.
The Londres left Newhaven for Greece after being bought by Typalddos Bros in December 1963. By then she had been renamed "Ionian II". Later in Greece she was renamed yet again, "Sophoklis Venizelos". On 14th April 1966 she caught fire while undergoing a refit, she was not repaired and later scrapped.
I think Cresta Marina opened July 16th 1962.
