NEWHAVEN MARINA

From the Fort

By Ricki Carver

A series of photo's by Ron Carver from the fort, before the West Quay development, 2005.

The final picture was the new ferry in 2005 having docking trials. This ferry went into service on 11/3/2006, being built in Vigo, Spain. The Cote D'albatre cost 40 million Euros, was 143m long, top speed 22 knots, with up to 600 passengers and 44 crew members. With an ideal mix of 30 lorries and 200 cars on the top deck.
