Meeching Table Tennis Club was formed in 1960 and comprised initially of the old Newhaven Boys Club "A" & "B" teams.
Meeching played in the local Lewes Table Tennis League with Eastside Social Centre being the venue for their home matches. The table tennis league was made up with clubs from Uckfield, Streat, Seaford, Bishopstone, Glynde, Lewes, South Heighton and Newhaven, with at one time 24 teams in 3 divisions.
In its ten year existence the club expanded from the original two teams up to a maximum of six teams, all playing in the then three divisions of the Lewes League. The club winning many Lewes League and KO cup titles.
One of the highlights for the Meeching Club occurred in 1966 when three club members David Bain, Paul Jordan and John Hills travelled to Bexhill to represent the Lewes League in the Sussex County Inter League Championships, where they won the Divisional Championship, the first time three members from one club had achieved this for over 80 years. In the following two years the three lads repeated their victory and finished runners up, before the Meeching T. T. Club was wound up in 1970.
