First Picture

The first of these two photos was taken at RNAS Lossiemouth (HMS FULMAR) in August 1955. The Newhaven contingent is spread throughout the group which included John Owen, Maurice Deakin, Malcolm Jones and myself to name a few.

Second Picture

The second photo was taken in August 1956 at HMS LOCHINVAR, in the shadow of the Forth Bridge at Port Edgar, South Queensferry. Signatures on the back include: Alec Boxall, Chris Fears, Maurice Deakin, Roger Okines, John Owen, David Hainsworth, Arthur Hayward, David (?) Digweed, Malcolm Jones and Mike Britchfield. This was just as the Suez Crisis was beginning to brew up and some of the men at LOCHINVAR who were being drafted were obviously in desperate need of cash - they were even offering to press our uniforms for us for a few bob!
