HMS FORWARD

BBC Film unit with David Dimbleby Saturday 8th sept 2012

By Richard Beckett

David Dimbleby & a BBC film crew were at the HMS Forward Tunnels today filming part of a series in which David travels from Portsmouth to Dover discovering about Coastal defence around the South Coast during WW2.  Geoff Ellis was on hand to explain about the tunnels and the part they played in monitoring shipping movements in the Channel during the war. I understand that the Series, entitled "Britain & the sea", will go out in November 2012, and that it will be the second programme in the series to be broadcast.
