TIDEWAY DRAMA CLUB

Play from 1973

By Caroline Morrison

We had some very talented students and teachers during my years at Tideway and it was fun to put on some very good plays and musicals. I was involved in "A Midsummer Nights Dream" which was a very memorable experience, especially since we got to perform an excerpt from Act III, the infamous "Bottom" scene with the donkey's head, at Sussex University as part of the East Sussex Drama Festival. I saved the programs and newspaper cuttings so I thought I would publish them here. Hopefully some of you remember this or were involved with it; I would love to read your comments and memories.

Hi Caroline,

Being involved with this production was definitely the high point of my time at Tideway.

You were as regal a queen as I have ever seen in productions of this play over the years and I hope you pursued your acting talents subsequently.

Thank you for posting the newspaper cuttings, which I'm not sure I ever saw.

I occasionally still run into former staff and students from Tideway which always rekindle the happy times I spent there.

Regards,

Stuart Reed

I remember this play very well - and it was really fun.  But when we performed a section at the University for a 'contest' I had a mad rush to remove the green make-up all up my arms before the judging panel met us.  I don't think I got it all off!!
