B H JARVIS

Sussex Express Article - February 2013

This month’s picture shows B H Jarvis’s shop in Meeching Avenue with Mr Jarvis standing outside the premises.  This photo was taken in 1943, during the last war - notice the anti-blast protection on the windows. The shop sold sweets, tobacco, stationery and 'fancy goods'.   Some of you may be wondering, where is Meeching Avenue?  The location was Elim Church down to the Conservative Club and was renamed South Way in 1970.
