Nice pix, Laurie. Brings back a few memories! The date would be 1964 onwards for both my Dad and Alex Pringle to be working together on Meeching.

In the first photo, the two people to the right of my Dad are Alex Pringle and John Watkins. I don't recognise the others as being tug crew - I think they are from the dredger 'Testside'. I hope that's lemonade in the bottles!

In the second photo, the Chief Engineer's name was Bob Patterson.

Out of all the pictures of the Meeching's Crew, I have yet to see one with Gerry Osborne in the picture. He was an engineer when Meeching had two crews and was there when Meeching towed a Floating dock from Dartmouth to Flushing but lost the tow off Ostend. Can anyone add to this?

I lived at 88 Western Road and John Watkins lived a few doors along from me. I remember he had a lovely motor scooter which he accidently crashed into my push bike and damaging it.  I got into a lot of trouble.  Later while working at marine workshops in Newhaven we worked on the Meeching if I remember correctly she had two Lister blackstone engines. From the marine workshops I moved on to the Senlac as a 4th engineer. Happy days

Dad John Watkins lived at 76 Western Road, Newhaven.
