And we all remember the problems, queues and numerous accidents at that junction!

Yes, and well I remember pulling a Southdown Bus into Denton Corner having to cross over oncoming traffic to get into the bus stop then having to cross the same traffic to get back out onto the drove. Coming down the Drove to go to Seaford was no problem. This was all before the the big roundabout we have today, and of course there was far less traffic on the roads. The worst times were when there was a bridge open or the level crossing was closed.

I used to work in the offices at Charringtons during the 60s 70s and 80s and vividly remember hearing the screech of brakes and the thump as cars collided as they took Denton Corner too fast or misjudged the speed of oncoming traffic as they turned on to the main road...

I have lived close to Denton Corner since 1961.  During the 80s, I would think that there was at least one minor accident a day, and one serious accident per week at the A259/26 junction. The good news is that the roundabout put an end to this.
