These traditional east coast craft are keeping this heritage alive as I know you can take trips on these craft during summer months at various east coast areas There used to be a Spritsail (Thames) Barge on a mud berth at Piddinghoe, for many years (circa l960's) . Also another of the same type laid in what is known as the 'U' basin of Newhaven Marina, until it moved prior to this basin being dredged to make more berths available for marina use (1975 approx) as it was the sole vessel berthed there.

Yes, it was the 'Maid of Connaught'. She arrived in 1966 and remained in Sleepers' Hole by the Watch House for many years. Andy - Editor
