Some nice pics. The ones with the famous 'Save our Senlac' slogan come from January 1982, when crews went on strike to protest about the proposed British withdrawal from the route. Remember it well.

The 'Moored up with her sister' photo isn't one of Senlac, but shows Caledonian Princess nearest the camera with Maid of Kent behind her. Back in the days when BR/Sealink ships would spent their winter lay-up periods here.

Senlac was still going strong in the Med in the 2007 season, now called the 'Apollon'. She looked really good - photos are on www.shipsnostalgia.com.

Some nice additions to the photos.

Why is Meeching spraying Senlac? She isn't really, though it does look like it. This is at the end of the sit-in, when the powers that be decided to keep her under the Red Ensign and run her opposite Chartres and various others. Meeching is giving her the traditional 'fireboat' salute - though these are normally for arrivals - to send her off to Dieppe once again.

Note the subtle changes in the final photo. Red funnel with the SNCF logo, and the port of registry as Dieppe. This was 1985, after she had been sold to the French after all.
