The pub in South Road

The Prince of Wales pub in South Road. I think this may be the only pub in Newhaven I've never visited - yet!

I believe originally there were two pubs side by side here. The Prince of Wales was originally in what is now the white house behind the yellow road sign and the building now occupied by the Prince of Wales was The Plough.

Hi Andy. I used to play the drums in there most nights of the week. Wonder if "Alvin" is still around or crossed the bar (the landlord of that time).

This used to be my brother David's local (mine was the Sheffield - or the Harbour Tavern before I was legal age - foreign country no-one knew me over there!).

I lived opposite it for 6 years until moving away but only went in there the last night in the UK.

I wonder why?

Before the white house had its last repaint it was just possible to see through the previous layer and the words "Prince of Wales". Its now well covered over.
