This was a well-organised demonstration where people of all ages joined in chanting “Save Our Beach”, waving flags and posters and blowing horns. A passionate speech, which could be heard on top of the Fort, was made through a loud hailer and as a finale a large poster was left on the awful railings showing all the publicity which we have had on the media, with letters and lots of photographs taken through the years showing that generations of people have ALWAYS used the sandy beach and walked along the breakwater. The decision to open our beach and breakwater has to be made NOW!!! Why is it taking so long? Let’s have an answer!!!

My wife has sat in on the public enquiry at Meeching Hall today 6th July 2010 it should conclude tomorrow . The enquiry did not seem to be well advertised by Newhaven Town Council, possibly for fear of disruption by Newhaven residents? However it was advertised in the Sussex Express on the 2nd of July 2010 under Public Notices and was scheduled to run for three or four days. The outcome is expected within the next couple of months. Let us all hope that result will be in our favour, how tragic it would be for our future generations not to be able to build those sandcastles and play the games that we did as children and have gone on to do with our grandchildren.
