Searchlight

By Dave Folwell on 16/04/2014 at 02:33

So Searchlight has ceased trading and no longer exists as was, another part of Newhaven history falls foul of the no longer viable can't be bothered sell the land off and redevelop. I remember matron very well and those damn dogs of hers. What would she say about her legacy, all the time and effort put into giving those disabled men a place to call home. A lot of them were my friends as I grew up. They still give me pause to think just how damn lucky I am. My nan worked there for years, she only lived over the road in station road. Where is the outcry where are the people of Newhaven when things like this happen. Was there no protest or is apathy now the way of life. My friend Brian lived there for as long as I can remember he was very lucky to have had such a place to live. He died very recently he was the last of my Searchlight friends. Brian you may be gone but never will you be forgotten.
