LIPSCOMBE FAMILY

By Marilyn Ponder on 26/11/2012 at 09:54

I have been trying to trace anyone with the name of Lipscombe spelt with an 'e' on the end, living in the Newhaven area. My Grandfather was born in Newhaven in the late 1800's and was one of fourteen children. He lived in a small fishermans cottage on the edge of the quay side, which has long been demolished.

I came to Newhaven a few years ago and went to a local cafe, and asked if anyone knew anybody by the name of Lipscombe and the man in cafe said an Alan Lipscombe used to frequent the cafe every Wednesday. I waited in the cafe on a Wednesday, but on that particular day he did'nt show up. It is the only link I had. My Grandfather was Joseph Robin Lipscombe and was married to Mabel Colbourne he served in the Royal Horse Artillery. I know I must have a lot of family I have never met, as before mentioned he was one of Fourteen.

I found this website, and I know it is probably a shot in the dark but would like to hear from anyone who has any knowledge of people with the same name.
