My grandfather was shipwrecked from a trawler called The Mikado in 1924 off the coast of Canada. He had hitched a lift back to the UK when it ran into trouble. I have various newspaper articles which said 9 people drowned in the storm. He survived and lived until 1989 but would never go into the sea.
