Photo by my father Fred Atherden

Taken by my father, Fred Atherden, in the 1960's I believe. He was born in Newhaven and lived in Elphick Road.

The steamer "Worthing" (1928-1955) is at the gridiron berth, so at low tide she would be high and dry, to enable underwater work and painting.

She looks pristine here so I think this is soon after her annual refit and repaint. Andy-Editor
