I am a little baffled by Colin's response above. Where exactly were Sheffield Cottages? You mention Meeching Court Farm and farmer Bowles in the same breath. I always understood that Farmer Bowles farmhouse was up where the mobile homes are now, whereas Meeching Court farm was situated adjacent to what is now Meeching Hall in Fort Road, with "Meeching Court" flats behind.
