i spent a lot of time on the beach on the west side of newhaven from 1947 to 1959 and i cannot remember any old pier ,and the area did not seem accessible for cows as the nearest farm was at the back of the recreation ground .however there are fields and old dwellings near to tide mills on the east side of the harbour entrance. david.
