HI Alan, The sound of the fog horn came from a " trumpet " type horn that was screwed into a fitting in the deck at the breakwater end near the lighthouse base. A compressed air unit in the room below kept it working.
The trumpet was quite large and was similar in shape to the old type of gramophone horn. It was always removed when not needed.
