Hi Colin, Thanks for that information -it makes sense that it would be taken in when not in use as the huge waves down there might have damaged the horn had it been permanently exposed. I got to thinking about it as I've just been reading a book called 'The Foghorn's Lament', all about the lost foghorns around the country.
